About Us/FAQ

GoCAM has been created to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas within our community.

Our goal is to assist in this essential 1st Amendment right by providing basic, introductory media production training (studio production assistance, digital video editing & camera operation) so that residents in our service area can create locally oriented media that speaks directly to their concerns and is relevant to their lives.

How do I watch Gorham’s public meetings & livestreams?

All public meetings are broadcast on GoCAM’s Government programming channel, GGETV (Ch. 3). If you live in Gorham, Ch.3 is available on your TV with a basic cable package. A free 24/7 livestream of GGETV is also available by clicking the “GoCAM LIVE” button on the sidebar on the left, as well as at this link.

What is Public Access Media?

The short answer is it is citizen media!

The Town of Gorham has negotiated a cable franchise agreement with a Cable Television Provider. In Gorham’s case that is Spectrum. Federal law allows the town to require the cable provider to offer “public, educational, or government” (PEG) access channels. Access channels are intended for unrestricted use by citizens, schools, and municipalities.

Gorham has 2 PEG channels. Channel 2, Gorham Community Access TV (GoCAT) serves community interests while Channel 3, Gorham Government Education TV (GGETV) serve the town and school department.

GOCAT TV2 and GGETV TV3 are only broadcast to residents in Gorham who have cable access. Neighboring towns don’t see our programming. Most towns use the same cable channel locations such as 2 or 3 to broadcast their own access information.
